The PowerShield® 2.0 system is designed to resolve power management issues associated with operating a mobile computing system. PowerShield® 2.0 protects against inadvertent battery drain and provides an automatic and orderly shutdown of the mobile computing system. It is fully self contained and integrated with the Polaris Digital Systems Trooper® and Trooper® II Mobile Data Computer. This power management solution requires no external devices or connections to vehicle ignition circuits and is fully programmable via an easy to use interface under the Windows operating system.
PowerShield® 2.0 can be programmed to initiate an automatic and controlled shutdown of the computer operating system whenever the engine is off for a pre-programmed time delay or if a low battery condition is detected. PowerShield® 2.0 eliminates the need for externally mounted watch dog timers and automatic switches. Unlike other devices, PowerShield® 2.0 will perform a proper Windows shutdown, avoiding the possibility of data loss or hard drive corruption, and eliminates a Scan Disk delay on power up. It will also automatically control the display backlights to conserve battery charge.
