COLUMBIA, SC - December 1, 2005: Polaris Digital Systems, Inc. has acquired the Public Safety Products and related assets from Carlsbad, California-based Palomar Display Products, Inc. (formerly a division of Hughes Aircraft Company). Polaris digital Systems will continue to market, service, and support the Trooper product line for use in public safety applications.
Designed for mounting in the vehicle, this on-board computer system runs Microsoft® Windows® operating systems on the fastest and most powerful line of Intel® Pentium® M processors available for mobile computing systems.
The Trooper® II mobile computing system has been designed specifically for mobile data applications and takes
into account the demands of police, emergency, fire, rescue, and utility vehicles.
The PowerShield 2.0 system is designed to resolve power management issues associated with mobile computing systems. PowerShield® 2.0 protects against inadvertent battery drain and provides an automatic and orderly shutdown of the mobile computing system. It is self contained and fully integrated with the Polaris Digital Systems Trooper® II mobile data computer.
This power management solution requires no external devices and is fully programmable via an easy to use Windows® interface.
